Ms Doris Wang is from Shan xi Province. She graduated from Xi’an Fanyi University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics.
Missy Zhu- Course Director
Missy has a Bachelor Degree in English Journalism received in 2000 from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. She has had extensive experience in the business sector in China during 2000-2011, working in the automobile and entertainment industry multinational companies, General Motors Asia Pacific and Universal Studios Shanghai Office.
Emily Li’s hometown is Suzhou City, Jiang Su Province. In June 2008, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from the University of International Relations in Beijing.
Emily decided to undertake her career in Mandarin Language teaching, and following two-years' experience, she chose to study for the Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at Wu Han University, where in June 2013 she received her Degree.
During her post graduate study, Emily was chosen by the Chinese Government to be part of the Confucius Constitution Program, and worked as a Mandarin Teacher for a year at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US. (2011-2012). Based on her outstanding performance, Emily was selected as the Excellent Teacher of the Year.
With her three-years' teaching experience diverse learner groups, and her expert cross-cultural communication skills, Emily is highly proficient at teaching Chinese courses for learners at all age levels and from different backgrounds.
Also, as a Tai-chi expert and member of the Chinese Wu Shu Association, Emily is a qualified Tai-chi trainer who can provide training in this Chinese traditional martial art in a bilingual class.
Vivian Ye was born in Lanzhou, Gansu Province. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Shandong University of Technology in 2009, majoring in
After graduation, Vivian continued study as a
postgraduate, majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other Languages (TCSL) in Shanghai University. After graduating from Shanghai University, her great passion for second language teaching led her to further study in the UK, where she earned another Master Degree in Second Language Teaching from the the University of Edinburgh.
Her teaching is especially notable for its clarity, her energy, and her dedication and responsibility for her students achieving high goals in their learning.
She also, notably, is skilled at Chinese Calligraphy, as well as being an accomplished accordion player.
Regina Zhao was born in Inner Mongolia Province. She received her Bachelor Degree in Teaching Chinese as A Foreign Language from Shanghai University in 2012.
Regina then continued her education in Chinese language teaching, and in July 2014, received her Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) from Shanghai University.
Her major studies included: Introduction to Chinese Linguistics, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, the Communication of Chinese Culture, Teaching Case Study in Oversea Classes, Foreign Language Education Psychology, Teaching Methodology of Chinese Language.
From May 2013 through March 2014 in connection with her Master’s Program, Regina worked as a Mandarin teacher in the Confucius Institute at Prince of Songkla University, Thailand. Her responsibilities there also included organizing Chinese Culture Communication Activities.
Regina joined Mandarin King in July 2014. With her professional teaching skills and patient, positive working attitude, Regina will provide our students an enjoyable, meaningful, and highly effective learning experience.
Iris Sun was born in Yingkou, Liao Ning Province. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Chinese Language and Literature from University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, graduating in 2011.
After graduation, she continued her education in the field of language teaching at the Graduate School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania in the TESOL Program (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
Her major studies included: Ancient and Modern Chinese Language; Chinese Lexicology and Phonology; Ancient, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature; History of Foreign Drama; History of Western Aesthetics; Educational Linguistics; Second Language Acquisition; Adult Literacy; Language Assessment; and TESOL Practice Teaching.
During her study at Penn, she taught both English and Chinese for one and a half years to adults and children from ten different countries. She specialized in task-based language teaching, emphasizing real-life interaction as both the means and goal of language study.
Iris is outgoing and friendly. She likes many kinds of music and dancing, including belly dance, tango and modern dance. Also, she likes reading, traveling and exploring museums.
She joined Mandarin King in 2014, and looks forward to applying benefits of her experience gained in studying and teaching abroad to her work here.
Lily earned her bachelor’s degree in English-Chinese Translation and Interpretation in 2011 from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade. Thanks to her major, she is an expert in both English and Chinese language and has a great understanding of the linguistic and cultural differences between the two languages.
After graduation, Lily worked as a training specialist in several Fortune-500 companies, and her working experience has given her opportunities to communicate in an international atmosphere with people from different cultures.
When it comes to Chinese language teaching, Lily is passionate and enjoys great popularity among all her students. She tends to tailor the learning process for each of her students according to their needs and language foundation, and she loves to share with them Chinese traditions, historical stories, literature works and life philosophies according to the student’s interests. Her lessons feature rich activities and interactions so that her students can achieve great learning outcomes in a fun and enjoyable way.

Ni Hao! I am Sandy. My university major was Chinese Linguistics and Literature, which led to the development of my interest in teaching Chinese as a second language.
Ms Hillary Yan was born in Jiang Xi. She dreamed of becoming a professional teacher since she was young. Hillary loved the Chinese language and culture, and in 2007, she began her study in Jiang Xi University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in 2011. Hillary believed that to be a professional Mandarin teacher requires deep study, and she continued toward the Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in Guangzhou University where she will receive her degree in July this year.
Her major studies included: Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, Cross-cultural Communication in Chinese teaching, the Essential Teaching Methodology of Chinese Language, Chinese Culture and Chinese Teaching, Contrast on Chinese and other Foreign Language and Error Analysis, Psychology in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.
During 2010, Hillary taught Mandarin to foreign teachers in her university.
During 2012, she taught a class with 13 international students the Intermediate-Oral-Chinese for one semester.
Her university teaching experience, seeing her students speaking Mandarin, has given her great satifaction and appreciation of the career she is undertaking.
She likes music, and enjoys playing guitar and singing with her friends.
Selina Yao was born and grew up in Shanghai. Selina gained her Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching Chinese As a Foreign language in 2010 from Shanghai University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Chinese Linguistics and Philology in 2013 from Shanghai University. She joined Mandarin King in June 2013.
Her major studies included: Introduction to Teaching Chinese As a Foreign Language, Methods of Teaching Chinese As a Foreign Language, General Linguistics, Historical Linguistics, Social Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Contemporary Chinese Language, Phonetics, Phonology, Philology, Dialectology, Syntactic, Teaching of Shanghai Dialect.
Since 2009, Selina has been teaching Mandarin to foreigners from USA, Europe, Asia and Africa. Most of them are businessmen, including managers, vise-presidents and CFOs. Alos, she has taught college students, housewives, English teachers. From one-on-one lessons to group lessons, from survival Chinese to business Chinese, from Mandarin to Shanghai Dialect, cultural knowledge, calligraphy, Chinese song. Selina is enthusiastic and patient in her teaching.
Karen Bai was born in a family of educators in Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province. She was brought up having a wide range of interests and activities, including music, literature, traditional Chinese culture, and hiking. She practiced several musical instruments in her childhood, particularly the Chinese traditional instrument Pi pa琵琶. As a young author, her writings were published in a local newspaper.
She graduated in 1990 from Yanbian University’s Education College having majored in English. She continued her education and received the Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Institute France-American of Management in France in 2002.
During the following seven years, Karen worked as an English teacher in a middle school in Beijing, also in the field of early childhood development, and in an administration position in private business. In 2009 she became a Chinese language teacher building her proven track record as a very successful teacher.
Lucy Sun was born in Qingdao and graduated at Wei Fang Science and Technology University ,completing her studies in 2010.
She majored in Business English. She speaks fluent English as well as, of course, her native Mandarin Chinese, and also a bit of Japanese.
Lucy started teaching Mandarin while she was at university, and she accumulated abundant experience in teaching individual students and also group classes.
After graduation, Lucy has been serving in the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai, responsible for teaching Chinese.
Lucy is patient, humorous, open-minded. She tailors her teaching to the needs and interests of her students. She likes to create the most enjoyable learning atmosphere, and applies visual aids for her students’ learning and practice.
As a Chinese who likes to travel, Lucy is familiar with cities in China, and is always ready to share informative travel, tourism, and practical living advice
with her students.
Larissa Li was born in Lanzhou City, Gan Su Province. She received her Bachelor Degree in English Language and Literature at Lanzhou University in 2012, and her Master Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the University of York in the UK in 2014.
While at Lanzhou University, Larissa worked as a part-time teacher in the Oxbridge Education Organization, teaching the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Test course of high school students and adults.
After receiving her Master Degree, she worked at Education First in Shanghai, teaching English, gaining experience with students from many backgrounds, education levels, and ages.
Larissa has played the piano for 10 years, earning the Certificate of Piano Level 9. She greatly enjoys sharing her knowledge of music and Chinese Culture with students and friends.
Larissa joined Mandarin King in May 2014 and looks forward to applying her teaching expertise gained in advanced education and experience teaching English to now teaching Mandarin as well as English.
Julia Zhu was born in Shanghai, China. Julia earned her Bachelor Degree in Teaching Chinese as Second Language for Foreigners from Zhejiang University of Media and Communications in 2013.
Her major studies included: Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, Cross-cultural Communication in Chinese teaching, the Essential Teaching Methodology of Chinese Language, Chinese Culture, Psychology in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.
After graduation, Julia decided to improve her teaching skills, specialize in language teaching fields, and become a Mandarin language teacher. She studied Senior Chinese Teacher Training Courses which was launched by East China Normal University.
Julia has begun teaching Mandarin to foreign students when she was a university student. She is good at teaching oral Chinese and kids Chinese.
Samuel Yan is from Nanjing China where he received his pre-university education.
In 2008 he went to France for study at the University of Aix-Marseille, and in 2010 received his Bachelor’s Degree majoring in International Journalism.
Samuel then continued in France for post-graduate study, where he received from Kedge Business School (Bordeaux) in 2012 the Master’s Degree in International Business.
Samuel received intensive training in teaching Chinese language for speakers of other languages while at the University of Aix-Marseille, and in 2010 he became a Language Assistant in the Chinese Department. Surrounded by interested students from different countries around the world, Samuel was always pleased to introduce Chinese culture and language to them.
Samuel's teaching experience and positive interaction with his students during this time firmly established his love of the Mandarin teaching profession. Through his teaching in France, Samuel established friendships with many students, and he received much appreciation for his working with them.
Samuel speaks English, French and basic Japanese. He loves reading, traveling, and social networking.
Isabel Qu was born in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Isabel graduated from Sichuan University in 2001 where her major was English.
After graduate, she worked in an American Hotel in Chengdu city for 2 years. She has moved to Shanghai and worked in another American company for more than 7 years.
In 2004 to 2008, Isabel continued her study on Chinese Language and Literature in East China Normal University and received her Bachelor degree in 2008.
For learning how to teach Chinese as a foreign language, Isabel participated qualified training as teach Chinese to foreign in 2015 and get the certification that is “Senior International Chinese Teacher Certificate”.
Her major studies in university included: English & Chinese Grammar; English Reading; English Writing; Business English; Science and Technology English; British and American Culture; Translation; Classical and Modern Chinese Literature.
During her spare time, she likes travel, photography, reading and painting.
Isabella Su was born in Ning Xia Province. She graduated in 2002, earned her Bachelor Degree for her finance major at Xia Men University.
Isabella has worked as a Cashier, Chief Accountant, and Office Manager. Since 2011, she has received more than half a year’s professional teacher training, and has gained rich experience in teaching Chinese. Her financial and business background has been exceptionally valuable for her teaching a wide variety of specialized students.
She greatly enjoys applying her skills and advanced methodologies in leading her students to their knowledge and use of our language. In doing this she also introduces cultural elements and their connection to the language.
She is able to make her students' learning exceptionally interesting to them, enhancing their concentration and enabling their natural memorization.
Michelle Liu was born in Shandong Province. Michelle earned her Bachelor Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages from Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE) and her postgraduate study is Subject Pedagogy in Fudan University, Shanghai.
Her major studies included four parts: Chinese, English, teaching methodology and international business and economics. The main subjects on Chinese and Chinese teaching are: Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, Cross-cultural Communication in Chinese teaching, the Essential Teaching Methodology of Chinese Language, Chinese Culture, Contrast on Chinese and other Foreign Language and Error Analysis, Chinese grammar.
Michelle began teaching foreign students in 2011. She was a Chinese teacher in SUIBE international summer camp, students mainly came from Europe. She also worked in Confucius college as an advanced Chinese teacher in 2014 for 6 months. She has great passion in teaching. Professionalism is her working attitude that she pursues in each class.
Jin Yezi was born in Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, She earned the Bachelor Degree in Broadcast and Host from Xinjiang Art University in 2011.
After graduation, she worked two years as a Journalist at Hubei’s biggest newspaper group, Hubei Daily Media Group, gaining valuable experience and advancing her communication and organizational skills.
She next decided to become a Mandarin Language teacher, and entered Shanghai University in 2013 to prepare for the post graduate exam for Teaching Chinese to Speakers of other Languages (TCSL).
She will receive her Masters Degree in June 2015.

During her post graduate study, she taught a foreign student at her university, who then succeeded in his HSK examination at Level 5.
Her personal interests include playing piano, cooking (various Chinese dishes), Chinese Calligraphy, recitation, music (folk, classic, new age),finding delicious food in every corner of the City.
Océane Qin was born and grew up in Guangzhou. She speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English. She had a Master degree of Arts & Design in Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. She had 7 years working experiences in design & Business development in the industries like Furniture/Home Appliances/Arts & Craft/Toys/Jewelry. In 2007, Océane has started teaching Mandarin in Vonchavalitkul University of Thailand for almost 3 years. During this three years teaching abroad, she found that she really love teaching for teaching is a very fruitful job when you see your students making progress. Océane has started teaching at Mandarin King in 2011. She has received many good comments from her Mandarin King students.
Ivy Huang was born in Suzhou City, Jiang Su Province. Ivy earned her Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Design and Automation from Nanjing Forestry University in 2008.
After graduation, Ivy worked as an HR trainer 2 years, and then decided to continue her education, specialize in language teaching, and become a Mandarin language teacher. She prepared for the postgraduate exam of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and in July 2014, she gained her Master’s Degree in the Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) from An hui Normal University.
Her major studies included: Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, Teaching Case Study in Oversea Classes, Cross-cultural Communication in Chinese teaching, the Essential Teaching Methodology of Chinese Language, Chinese Culture and Chinese Teaching, Contrast on Chinese and other Foreign Language and Error Analysis.
During her postgraduate study, Ivy began teaching foreign students at her university. From 5/10/2013—3/19/2014, Ivy worked for Confucius Institute in Philippines as a Mandarin teacher in Ateneo de Iloilo School.
Ivy joined Mandarin King in May 2014. We expect that with her patience, energy, enthusiasm and experience in teaching, she will be greatly appreciated by our students.
Ruby Zhuang is from Shanghai. She has graduated from China Youth University for Political Sciences where she has gained her Bachelor degree in Foreign Language and Literature. Majoring in English offered her an great opportunity to immerse herself in western culture and especially, she has a better understanding of intercultural communication between Chinese and English.
My name is Joy Zhao, Chinese name is Zhao Yue. My major in university was French linguistics and literature. During my academic study in French language, I became interested in teaching Chinese to French students as a foreign language.
I have gained the Mandarin National Level 2 Grade A Certificate and Senior Chinese Teacher Certification, also have accumulated abundant experience in teaching Chinese in the past 3 years, not only for individual (one-on-on) classes, but also for group classes. I taught students from France, Germany, UK, Italy, Australia, Canada, USA, South Korea and Greece.
I joined Mandarin King in February 2012 and I enjoyed working here. Mandarin King provides many trainings and plantforms for teachers to exchange teaching ideas.

Cherry Lin was born in Shanghai. Cherry received her Bachelor Degree in English Language and Literature from Shanghai International Studies University in 2013, where also she earned her Test For English Major- 8(TEM8) Certificate and her Certificate for Middle School Teaching. After graduation, Cherry continued her education specializing in Mandarin Language teaching. Her major studies included: Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Introduction to Second Language Acquisition, Teaching Case Study in Oversea Classes, Cross-cultural Communication in Chinese teaching, the Essential Teaching Methodology of Chinese Language, Chinese Culture and Chinese Teaching, Contrast on Chinese and other Foreign Language and Error Analysis, Psychology in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. She received her Masters Degree in English Language and Literature in July 2014.
Also, during the time of her graduate study, Cherry taught foreign students in the New Oriental School in Shanghai. Cherry has had academic musical training in Chinese Traditional Music and for playing the Guzheng. Her musical knowledge and performances have been much appreciated by students at the New Oriental School. She joined Mandarin King in July 2014.
Ivy Ye is a Shanghai native and lifelong resident. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSL) at Shanghai Normal University, graduating in 2007. As an essential part of her education toward her chosen career, Ivy began teaching while a student at her University.
After graduating, Ivy taught as an Instructor at Shanghai Jiaotong University from 2007 to 2009 .She next taught as a private Chinese tutor so that she could broaden her opportunities for working with many different interesting types of students.
Ivy’s teaching style is lighthearted, entertaining, and emphasizes fun as well as making learning interesting. In addition to teaching Standard Mandarin, she teaches Shanghai Dialect when required.
She joined Mandarin King this year 2014.
Winnie Yin was born in Shanghai. She is a postgraduate student in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature at Shanghai Normal University (上海师范大学). Winnie got her Bachelor Degree in Chinese Language and Literature from Shanghai Normal University. She also has received her Bachelor Degree in Social Services from Shanghai Institute of Technology University in 2012.
Winnie has passed the test for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and received the certification in the year 2013. She then, has worked as a private Mandarin tutor to foreign adults for seven months. These seven months made her believe that teaching is her passion. She believe that each student is unique from another, the teacher should adapt and tailor the teaching methods to help student to achieve the learning goal.
Her lesson plans are designed according to the ages of students, the careers of the students, the study habit etc. She likes to create fun learning atmosphere, and applies visual teaching aids to teach and practice.
Winne likes literature, both Chinese and foreign literatures. She likes jogging around Century Park where she lives and playing badminton with friends.

Laurel Zhu was born in Shanghai and earned two Bachelor Degrees and a Master Degree at Shanghai's East China Normal University, completing her studies in 2012.
She majored in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, and in Public Administration and International Relations. She speaks fluent English as well as, of course, her native Mandarin Chinese, and also a of bit French and some Korean.
Laurel started teaching Mandarin while she was at university, and she accumulated abundant experience in teaching individual students and also group classes.
After graduation, Laurel has been serving in the public sector, responsible for various international cooperation and communication projects. She was recruited by the United Nations, and worked as a Peacekeeper in field missions and at Headquarters.
Laurel is dynamic, patient and open-minded. She tailors her teaching to the needs and interests of her students. She likes to create the most enjoyable learning atmosphere, and applies visual aids for her students' learning and practice.
As a local Shanghainese, Laurel is familiar with every corner of the City, and is always ready to share informative travel, tourism, and practical living advice with her students.
Meiyan Li was born in Ji’an city, Jiangxi Province. Meiyan majored in Business Japanese at Fushun Teachers College, and took elective courses in Education. She graduated and received her Bachelors Degree in 2009.
In Fushun City, Meiyan met many Japanese students and taught many of them Mandarin in her spare time. As a result of this experience, she decided to become a professional language teacher.
After her graduation, she came to Shanghai to work in a Mandarin language institution. She received extensive professional training for teaching Mandarin, and gained three years of experience in that institution.
Meiyan has taught a great number of students, most of whom being Japanese and Korean. Her courses have covered the full range from beginner elementary level to the most advanced. She takes great satisfaction and pleasure in practicing her profession, which she loves.
In leisure time, Meiyan likes reading and doing sports, especially roller-skating and Ping-Pong.
Ellen Chen Graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2009, Chen has a Double Bachelor Degree in International Economics and Trade as well as in Environmental Science and Engineering.
Tina Liu was graduated from Shandong University where she’s majored in Marketing and she got her bachelor degree of Economics. She has been worked in Siemens Transformer Co. for six years as the secretary and interpreter for the General Manager.
Brenda Zhu was born in Chang Zhou City, Jiang Su Province. Brenda received her Bachelor Degree in English from Huai Hai Institute of Technology in 2004. Brenda also has undertaken three years of calligraphy study. Brenda worked as an English Tutor for eight years.
In her leisure time, Brenda enjoys delicious food and communicating child care experiences with other mothers.
