China is not the easiest country for foreigners. It is full of challenges such as the different culture or the different food, but the biggest challenge for every foreigner is the language. Chinese is known worldwide for being one of the most difficult languages in the world and although a lot of Chinese people speak English, but the major part of the population doesn ́t or is embarrassed of their English.
I arrived in China knowing nihao (hello) and xiexie (thanks) and had to face constant communication problems during really basic situations as asking for the toilet or a glass of water. I was recommended Mandarin King by a co-worker and assigned myself for one of it ́s courses after having had a free test class. From that decision onwards my stay in China became easier and easier as my Chinese improved with every class. The teacher was well prepared and achieved to make the difficult, and sometimes boring, task of learning a language not just funny and entertaining, but also really effective. After just six months I passed the HSK3 with a score of 85%, but more important I achieved to communicate myself with the local people dealing with more than daily or basic topics.
Furthermore I received a view into the Chinese culture, as the teachers would share their experiences and bond with their students during breaks and after class. Moreover did Mandarin King not just help me with my studies and the paper work for my HSK, but also with other problems as understanding the rice-cooker in my house or important documents.
All in all I would like to recommend Mandarin King for it ́s great staff and teaching methods.

Based on my learning experience with Mandarin King, this past semester, I would highly recommend this school to students who wish to become proficient in speaking and understanding Mandarin Chinese. In spite of my lack of prior, formal training in the language, Mandarin King Course Consultant pegged me at the appropriate class level, after a short, but very efficient, 15 minutes of oral assessment. This front-end process laid the groundwork to ensure that I had a challenging learning environment, taking into account my specific needs.
The very useful, in-depth and easy-to-follow class-room materials provided, coupled with our teacher Mandy Lu’s lucid explanations, were sufficient to keep up with the pace of the lessons covered at each session. This resulted in a minimal amount of work outside of the classroom, to absorb the concepts, grammar and vocabulary highlighted within each lesson.
The Mandarin King approach to language training, exemplified by teacher Mandy Lu’s patience and keen insight into individual student’s needs, really helped to enhance my comfort level with the language. Her willingness to go off on tangents, away from the text book contents, to indulge a student’s curiosity, was particularly useful to improve one’s overall grasp of language and culture.
I am planning to attend my next level course this coming semester, to further improve my language skills.

When I first came to China everything was so exciting and new. I realized that to fully enjoy life here it would be helpful to know the language.
At Mandarin King I learnt to speak Chinese in 50 hours spanning over 25 days. The lessons were extremely well organized, skillfully planned to suit my interest and very well executed. The key to teaching the language here is constant revision of vocabulary using interesting teaching aids.
After just two classes, I was able to put together words to make sentences and it was a real confidence booster.
This has also helped my kids learn faster and get better grades in school. They look forward to their language classes at Mandarin King.

I have been learning Mandarin with Doris since 2009 and have had at a total of 80 hrs classes with her over a 6 months period.
